Investment Banking Winter Internship

  • Selected as 1 of 6 interns for Investec's Investment Banking Winter Internship; built a DCF valuation for a proposed R1.1bn FMCG acquisition, deriving WACC and an implied EV/EBITDA range of 4.5–7.0x
  • Produced a 15-slide investment banking pitch deck covering valuation, competitive positioning, SWOT and regulatory risk analysis
  • Presented and defended the acquisition thesis to Investec VPs and Associates in live Q&A, securing a positive investment recommendation

  • Evaluated 3 enterprise AI platforms (DataRobot, Taktile, Worktual) across underwriting automation, risk assessment and lead generation, delivering a prioritised implementation roadmap to senior management
  • Built ROI models across a portfolio of ~6,400 annual loans, estimating a potential 10–15% reduction in default risk and up to ~3,000 hours/year saved through partial underwriting automation
  • Identified a potential revenue uplift of roughly £150–200K from improved lead qualification, supporting data-driven recommendations on AI investment strategy
